For Today (April 6, 2009)

Outside my window...

It's cloudy, cold, a freeze is predicted for tonight and snow for tomorrow. But I'm not worried because my family is clothed with scarlett and my strawberries are covered with hay.

I am thinking...

About the end of Lent and the Lenten Challenge. About Holy Week.

I am thankful for....

Abundance.

From the learning rooms....

Arts Week! Our artists are Seurat, Kandinsky, and Klee. Our composer is Mozart. We're going to read a lot of history so we can finish the book before the end of school. We'll try to finish our last Shakespeare play. The children are looking forwa
rd to helping with Passover and Easter cooking. And Abby and I will finish up Mrs. Katz and Tush. Emily and Anna are finishing up a few subjects, too, and helping in the kitchen.

From the kitchen...

Lots going on this week. I'm in charge of the Seder plates and the head table and I'll be roasting lots of eggs and making matzo-ball soup and mat
zo crunch and getting things ready at church. The lady who is in charge of celebrations has home-made grape juice and is making the haroset and we'll meet at the church on Thursday to get everything in place.

For our Easter lunch, we're planning ham, green-bean bundles (love 'em, Shelley!), roasted asparagus (another recipe from Shelley), potato salad, home-made rolls, and lemon pie.

My plan is to post recipes all week, so check back if there's something you're interested in....

I am crea
ting...

Summer plans for me and the children, v
acation plans, and school plans for next year.

I am going...

Still working on Easter shopping. Perhaps one more trip will finish up?

I am reading...

Katie, my oldest daughter, asked me to read Get Married: What women can do to help it happen and give my opinion on the ideas in the book. I'll get to it sometime this week, hopefully.

I am hearing
...

My husband making the coffee, Thomas' pencil as he draws. Anna is reading, everyone else is still in b
ed.

One of my favorite things...

Lemons! Somehow in my mind "Spring" and "Lemons" just go together!

Here is a picture I'm sharing...

It's Abby dressed for Palm Sunday
in a new skirt made by my mom.

The skirt is lovely! Have a blessed week and enjoy your Passover Seder. Sounds like it's going to be busy at your house! God bless.

Loved the music....so comfortable and soothing....Did your Mom have a pattern and if so will you share the #? I'd like to make the Princess one.
Have a great week,
Mama Bear

No, she doesn't use a pattern for peasant skirts. I'm sorry....

The picture of Abby is darling!

I agree - Spring calls for lemons! (Strawberries, too.)

Thanks for reminding me to be thankful for abundance. We live in such a blessed society.

Here's an explanation for roasted eggs: http://www.recipetips.com/kitchen-tips/t--456/roasted-eggs.asp
Sometimes I just boil them with a teabag, which is cheating, but faster.

Jerralea, we like lemon curd the BEST!
