The artist we learned about today was Winslow Homer. We enjoyed looking at his many paintings online and learning about his Harper's Weekly illustrations.
The children took a piece of thick paper and wet it briefly. Using watercolors, they painted a foreground, trees, a lake, the sky, and last, the mountains. We let the paintings dry, then outlined them with a black scrapbooking pen. Ta-da! Beautiful art!
